On Sunday 23rd July 20 Scouts got the unique opportunity of a flight in a light aircraft from Fairoaks airfield.  A huge thank you on behalf of all the Knaphill Scouts to the pilots from the London Transport Flying Club at Fairoaks and to Ian Gibbs (ASL) for organising this.

I had a wonderful time on cub camp. We were at a lovely campsite at the bottom of Box Hill. On day one we put up our tents and ate some hotdogs for dinner. The next day we had some free time and went on a hike to the top of Boxhill and back down again. On the way back we bought an ice cream. Then we came back and ate some great pasta. On the last day we had some free time to play. We also had a mini Olympics, this included running, throwing and jumping. Then we packed up our tents and came home for a hot bath! Thank you to the leaders for giving me a great time at Cubs and I really enjoyed my last camp.

My first Cub camp was great fun. We camped in a wood and there was a play area, we made swords. Hawkeye helped make them out of sticks and string.

Every morning there was a tent inspection, our tent got seven out of ten both times.

The next day we went on a hike, we walked for four and a half hours! At our destination we bought some ice cream - yum. We enjoyed a campfire organised by the cubs who are leaving, it was really fun. On the last day, we competed in a mini Olympics , sprinting, long distance running and throwing. I won two medals and some sweets.

I'm really looking forward to the next one.

CUB SUMMER CAMP  14-16th JULY 2017

7-9TH JULY 2017

Scoutabout is by far one of my favourite camps that I have ever done in Scouts! I really enjoyed all the activities and the entertainment that was there. One of the best things about Scoutabout is the fact that the leaders just leave you to it most of the time and you're free to go and roam about the site. My favourite activity was the black hole, it was basically caving but the caves were made out of hay bales and you had to crawl through different gaps to get to the other side. There were so many different activities to do and they were all really fun and there was only a couple that I didn’t get to do. My least favourite thing about Scoutabout was the queues, but luckily we didn’t have to wait more than an hour for any activity. I really enjoyed Scoutabout and I recommend that every scout should go to it.

What is Scoutabout? Scoutabout is an extraordinary event that only happens once every three years, +6,000 Scouts and Guides aged between 10 and 14 from all over Surrey participating in a weekend of fun, learning and over 200 different activities.

FAMILY CAMP 16th-17th SEPT 2017

Another very successful Family Camp for the Group at Birchmere Campsite.  Beavers, Cubs and Scouts bought their parents and siblings along to enjoy a taste of Scout Camp for the weekend—even 3 of our newest Beavers who had only attended one meeting came along with their families!  All enjoyed a variety of fun activities including the Firebird Challenge.  This year the Firebird Challenge was to make a boat to enable Action Man to traverse a swamp! Fierce competition this year and we even had to include an adults category!  Congratulations to the winners:  Cub Scout:  Jacob, Beaver Scout Rosie, Sibling: Esme & Adult: Tim
