SHOOTING CAMP  OCT 2015

Report by Zach, Scout

SHOOTing camp was one of my favorite camps in all of my time in Scouting. It was very chilled and we didn't have to do anything at an exact time. The weather was good too, unlike this summers 'monsoon' camp!

My favourite part of the camp was the pistol shooting  This is something I had not done before, so I didn't know what to expect. It is now my favouite type of shooting because the trigger is much easier to pull than on the rifles. Another highlight was when we used the bows and arrows and shot arrows at pictures of zombies! Strangely, my aim actually improved when shooting at the zombies! Some of us put apples on our heads and were shot at by the leaders. (Most of that is true…. Well, some of that is true!)  On the last day, we had to make chariots from wooden staves in our teams (tents vs. hammocks) and race them over to the archery area. We then had to turn them into catapults, and shoot bamboo canes at the archery targets. It was great fun, but putting them up involved lots of knots which took a little longer for my team, the tents, than the hammocks. I hope that we do more camps like this in future because I really enjoyed the shooting.

NEW YEAR VILLAGE LITTER PICK   2ND JAN 2016

On Friday 15th January 19 Knaphill Scouts (and an adopted Scout from 8th Woking called Alice), arrived at Bentley Copse to join over 400 other Scouts for the 2016 District Frost Camp. A weekend of action packed activities including climbing, abseiling, air rifles, archery, laser tag, quad bikes and many more. This year the weather lived up to its billing, with temperatures dropping to -5C on Friday night and then we woke up to snow on Sunday morning – The weekend was the perfect combination of red hot activities and ice cold weather.

Here are the words the Scouts used to describe the weekend,
Cold, Freezing, Fun, Ice, Exciting, Snow, Thrilling, Brrrrr, Muddy, Great, Frosty Tents, Painfully Good, Snowman, Freezing, Thrilling, Eventful, Raining, Exhilarating, Slush, Queuing, Chilly,
